The Novel:
The death of a musician becomes a catalyst. Cody, a graduate student seeks redemption, both for and through his love-hate relationship with hip-hop while his past decisions return for retribution within a digital age, in which inaccessibility is nonexistent, and within a cancel culture, in which no choice goes unpunished. On his journey, he has dealings with a drug addicted producer, a chaos loving computer scientist, and cam model, amongst a host of other memorable characters.
What if Hip-Hop was just a euphemism for a new religion?

Each chapter of the story is told from a character’s perspective, in the same vein as William Faulkner’s As I Lay Dying and Marlon James’ A Brief History of Seven Killings. The afro-surrealism of the novel is highlighted through a combination of poetry, technology, and a survey of black thought.
The novel is steeped in Hip-Hop. So much so that it has its own soundtrack. Check it out HERE.
